If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me? Who the hell would ever hold that against someone? I always wondered. That question always seems like an dumb question to me. Sorta like that Kenny Rogers song, You are So Beautiful. There he is singin this sweet song but then adds, to me, like your ugly to everyone else. Why do people waste their breath asking questions that should not be asked or answered?
Anyhow the first thing I think of anytime I hear the Bellamy Brothers my mind drifts back about 12 years ago to a small hump bar in Honolulu. There was a bar called Gussie Lamores. Not the type of place I tend to like to hang out. It was full of sailors and women who were lookin for sailors while their sailor was out to sea. The one good thing about Gussies was they got a lot of formerly big named bands to come play there for pretty darn cheap. That year it was attack of the 80's hair bands Ratt, Poison, White Snake all of them were great. Bellamy Brothers came one night and I wasn't going to go even though I loved them cause I was in a crabby mood. I laugh now but thinking back maybe I should have stayed home after all. That night I went and bowed to the offer to drink tequila with an old friend. I don't really remember how but at some point I had two servers bringing me tequila at the same time. Never a good idea. I was three sheets to the wind, pissed off and riding the killing edge. When the Bellamy Bros came on stage my friend pulled me to the floor and his poor feet suffered as I tried to dance with him through "If I said you had a beautiful body" then there was one or two songs and then Redneck Girl came on. Well that has always been a sort of an anthem to me. It didn't take much just another shot and some sailor grabbing my ass next thing I know there is blood that doesn't belong to me and I was tossed over my buddies shoulder and I passed out in the back of his camero feet out. Someday maybe I will see them live again. -laughs- My bar fighting days seem to be waning thankfully it has been a few years since I had a good bar fight. Maybe I should see where the Bellamy Bros are playing.
Overall a really darn good record. I have always liked their music. For the most part it's not cry in your beer. It's good for dancing to if I could dance and it has never taken itself to seriously.
