On a day like today we passed the time writing love letters in the sand says Pat Boone, on a day like today its not love letters I'm writing but a blog about Pat Boone's great hits. He is in my big band and classical group but I'm thinking perhaps he should have been in the rock section. Not my style of rock but back in the day this was really rockin it.
Why baby why don't you please when I am your slave for live wrapped in a band of gold. Is marriage just a form of slavery? To some for sure it is. Apparently to Pat Boone it is cause the next several songs were all about reminding his dame that she is his and he is her prisoner of love.
I almost forgot to do this today and when i realized Pat Boone was the record of the day i groaned out loud. Turns out it's not really so bad. He has a pretty clear voice like Elvis did. It's a nice mix of early rock and Broadway melodies. The lyrics are actually pleasing. Darlin don't forbid me to talk sweet talk. His love is so deep an strong he just has to shout out how he feels for her. He knows it's the only way to warm himself up. Very few express themselves so openly anymore or at least eloquently. Now a day's its more direct, I wanna fuck you till you can't stand sort of stuff. There is something very enticing and warm about the picture he paints of love.
Pat Boones Great Hits
- Love Letters in the Sand
- Why Baby Why
- Remember You're Mine
- Chains of Love
- Don't Forbid Me
- Friendly Persuasion
- I Almost Lost My Mind
- I'm Waiting Just for You
- There's a Gold Mine in the Sky
All in all a nice mellow surprise and I am quite glad I listened to it. I see now why people liked Pat Boone. The melodies are so mellow I am now ready for bed but can't say I was bored just nice and relaxed. I can see people holding their loves close and just sort of swaying to his tunes like on a boat. The perfect ending to a day.
