Johnny Cash Story of a Broken Heart

This is some early Cash. Very boogie woogie. It made me grin ear to ear especially Luthers Boogie. I grew up on boogie woogie. It was played at every family gathering. My uncle Ray used to play it on the guitar and anyone who knew how to play something would join in. One of my favorite pictures is of my kid brother sittin on my Uncle Ray's lap playing guitar. As I grew into adulthood and married more fond memories were made with boogie woogie. My father in law Frank used to play boogie woogie on the piano pretty regularly.

So here I was all into Johnny and then the record surprised me when Frank Simon started singing "I Can See An Angel".  It's not so bad. Its the early country and western that my grandparents used to listen to. Pretty reminiscent of Grandpa Jones to me . So Simon had two tunes on this record: "I can See an Angel" and " Honky-tonk Merry Go Round"

Jan Howard, female not male, got the next two songs on the record. " Weeping Willow" and "I've Got My Pride". Fairly nondescript voice typical of the early 60's female country and western artists.

Finally the album had two songs of Bobby Austin. " Castle of Love" and " Wall of Loneliness" Not bad songs either. All and all in line with the rest of the record.

Johnny was by far the star of the record. Of the four songs that Johnny did on this record three were A sides and "Got Rhythm" was the B side of "Walk the Line" Not too shabby for a B side. I think far to often people then and now only bought a record or cd for the songs they knew and ignored the B side where often times there was some really great gems of music.
