To me there is very little better then the sound of Johnny Cash's voice no matter my mood. He is always the perfect solution. He can be loving and playful or dark and brooding. This record is a good mix of all of his moods.
I really loved Understand Your Man....I had not heard this song before. Too often we hear songs about women crying and stories of how their man never understood them. Well this is Johnny's answer to that. It's all about a man who has had enough of a nagging wife. He says "Understand your man
I'm tired of you bad mouthing. Understand your man" There is a lesson there ladies at some point everyone gets tired of bein bad mouthed. I try to remember this lesson always. That's not to say I never say anything about anyone but my rule in life has always been never say anything behind someone's back that you wouldn't repeat to their face. Sadly though there is an awful lot I would say to someone's face so that is sometimes a struggle.

I admit freely I have always been a big fan of songs that told a story. Not just a general story but a real one like "Don't Take Your Guns to Town" It's always been one of my very favorite songs and its always made me cry. Maybe this is why I love Johnny so much He was a Master at the story telling song. I could close my eyes and see a mini movie in my mind, so graphic was His detail. I never need to watch TV or go to the movies all I need do is put on a Johnny album and I can see many different mini movies in my mind. That my friends is talent.
